New outdoor adventure in Brighton & Hove

Post image for New outdoor adventure in Brighton & Hove

Falling in line with the range of outdoor and adventure sports available in the city, Brighton & Hove is set to be the first spot on the South Coast to boast a cable wake boarding system, making it possible for all levels of wake boarders, from first-timers and beginners to advanced, to maximise their time on the water practising one of the world’s fastest growing sports. Lagoon Watersports will be operating the in-line cable system from Spring 2011.

The Hove Lagoon has always been a water sports paradise, and wake-boarding is only an addition to the sailing, kayaking, windsurfing and even stand up paddle boarding which takes place on the water each year.  Lagoon Watersports operate a second major water sport centre from Brighton Marina which was established in the 1908s, and the company offers a gym-style membership package for members to take part in a rage of activities and also have access to unlimited equipment hire.  From Brighton Marina water sports enthusiasts can go windsurfing, kayaking, power boating, head out on Thunder Cats, go yachting or dinghy sailing, and enjoy stand up paddle boarding as in the Hove Lagoon.

For those who prefer to keep two feet planted firmly on the ground, head to Yellowave, the UK’s only permanent beach court, and training location for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic. Located right on the seafront in the heart of the Brighton Promenade, Yellowave offers beach sports activities like beach soccer, footvolley, beach rugby and ultimate Frisbee in addition to beach volleyball games and lessons for all ages and levels.

Looking for more adventure? How does spinning 30mph down a half-mile trail inside of a giant plastic ‘orb’ sound? Orb360 is an orb activity centre which runs several types of orb adventures, from the classic, inside the plastic bubble, to the Aqua Orb, in which two people together with 50 litres of splashing water roll down the same run which starts atop Devil’s Dyke in the South Downs outside of Brighton. The latest extreme activity at Orb360 is Board360, a mountain boarding training academy for ultimate adrenaline monkeys.
