The second annual Brighton Marathon will take place on 10 April 2011, starting and finishing at Madeira Drive. With a very similar route to last year’s inaugural 26.2 mile run, 15,000 runners will weave through the city centre and along stretches of coastal road, which includes panoramic views where the South Downs meet the English Channel.

The first-ever Brighton Beach Tennis Tournament will take place the following week on 17 at NiveaSun Yellowave year round beach volleyball centre’s Beach Tennis UK event. Not only is the beach tennis event the first to be held in Brighton, but also throughout the UK.

The 2011 cricket season kicks off on 24 April at the Sussex County Cricket Club in Hove. The season, which runs through 12 September 2011, is comprised of a number of LV=County Championship fixtures for the First X1 who, on 25 August, play India. Elton John will also be performing live at the Sussex County Cricket Club on 26 June 2011.

Catch a Seagulls’ match at the brand new American Express Community Stadium this spring, as Brighton & Hove Albion FC compete for the first time in the 22,500 seater stadium. If you can tear your eyes away from the team, currently on a winning streak, take the time to check out the perimeter of the new stadium, where Seagulls supporters have had the chance to become a part of the stadium themselves by purchasing a specially commissioned granite heritage stone, engraved with personal messages.

Well, at least get yourself a beer

Couldn’t get a ticket to see today’s game live? The Duke of Beaufort in Queen Park Road serves up pub grub and Thai food along with healthy helpings of sporting events large and small on a six-foot screen and the Black Horse in Montague Lane can really ramp up its laid back atmosphere when a match is shown on Sky.
