Brighton has some top-class curry houses- stylish and contemporary and most importantly, authentic and delicious! We’ve put together our top three Indian restaurants in Brighton for you to enjoy.
The Chilli Pickle
The Chilli Pickle, located in the very heart of bustling Brighton’s famous lanes is a contemporary Indian bistro with a diverse and unique menu. The restaurant itself is very appealing, modern and friendly- it gets busy very quickly, so making a reservation in advance is advised.
Try their award winning Oxtail Madras (£12.95) or indulge in delicious dishes, such as Pumpkin Dhansak (£11.95), Lamb Dum Biryani (£13.95) or Tandori Platter (£16.95). Starters are just appetising, with a choice of mouth-watering treats, such as Sticky Vindaloo Pork Ribs with cachumber salad (£7.80), Hara Mackeral in a green masala (£6.95) and Yoghurt Vada (£4.50). There’s also an excellent lunchtime menu and a wide selection of interesting desserts and Indian Tea to keep you totally inspired.

The extremely popular Hove Tandori has a loyal following of local diners, and the reason for this is their authentic and delicious curries. All dishes are prepared to the highest standard and use fresh ingredients, with herbs and spices to give ensure all are aromatic and full of flavour.
The atmosphere is very ambient, intimate and friendly, which is accentuated by the beautiful décor and friendly and efficient staff. It gets very popular here, especially at weekends so it’s best to book ahead. You can get all your favourite dishes here, from Biriani (from £7.90), Massala or Passanda (from £8.70) to Dhansak (from £8.00) and Khorai (from £8.00). It’s a feast!

A personal favourite, the Elizabethan Cottage situated on Brighton’s Old London Road in a historic fifteenth century flint cottage, is one of the best Indian food I have tasted outside of India. Okay, so it’s that little bit further out of town but the 5-minute drive is definitely worth the effort.
Not only is the atmosphere cosy and romantic, but also every table has its individual placement in lots of nooks and crannies around the cottage. They’ve won various awards for their authentic dishes and have had quite a few celebrity visitors too. Prices are very reasonable. I recommend trying the spicy dishes on the Chef’s Specials menu, if you like it hot!
