Brace yourself for some of the tastiest Italian restaurants in the UK, many of which can be found here, the heart of Brighton & Hove. We’ve rounded up our top 3 most delicious restaurants (and trust me it was a hard decision) where you can enjoy anything from pasta to pizza or fillet steak and poached salmon. Is your mouth watering yet?
Jamie Oliver’s Pukka Pasta
Jamie Oliver’s Pukka Pasta is a relatively new addition to the Jamie’s Italian empire, opening in Brighton early 2009. The restaurant itself is inviting, with chic décor combined with traditional Italian features, such as a counter filled with Italian hams and salamis and a huge pizza oven that gives off a warm golden glow.
The food is, of course, superb and the service is excellent throughout your meal. It’s a great place for families too. Children are provided with quirky menus to keep them entertained, and provided with lots of varieties to satisfy even the fussiest of eaters.
This restaurant offers affordable luxury- the luxury of a high quality tasting food and drink, but at great value. Choose from a plethora of foods, such as ‘lamb chop lollipops’ (£13.85), ‘chicken cooked under a brick’ (£12.50) or daily fresh fish (market price), and plenty more.
There’s no need to worry about booking weeks in advance either. In fact, they don’t take bookings at all if you are a party of less than 6. Simply turn up and the restaurant will contact you once your table is ready. This gives you a chance to have a tipple or two at one of Brighton’s pubs and bars beforehand if you wish. Buon Appetito!
Open Monday- Saturday 12 noon-11pm
Sunday 12 noon-10.30pm

If you ask any local to name an Italian in Brighton & Hove, they would be sure to name Otello. This long-standing quality Italian restaurant serves fresh, seasonal and innovative dishes that are displayed in an exquisite way on your plate. Perfect for mellow lunches or intimate dinners, you’ll be sure to find a great dish from their traditional menu and sip on some great wines.
Choose from a variety of mouth-watering starters, such as calamari Luciana (£5.90) to New Zealand mussels in basil, cream and white wine (£5.90). There is a vast selection of salads (from £3.60), pasta (from £8.25), pizza (from £8.35) and specialities, such as steaks (£17.95), chicken (11.95) and veal (£14.95). It’s all here waiting to be enjoyed!
There really is a great atmosphere at Otello and the service is just right- attentive but discreet. It’s certainly one to try during your visit to Brighton & Hove.

La Piazza is now closed:-( we’ll update this page with more great Italian’s soon!
Ah La Piazza- a personal favourite! The atmosphere here is vibrant and sexy, with seductive lighting and impressive decor. The service is always great- you’re made to feel important and your needs are put first even at their busiest times. The food is outstanding and portion sizes never disappoint. Personally, I’d recommend the fillet steak here, it’s fat and juicy and darn impressive. If you want it medium-rare, that’s what you’ll get. Of course, there’s more than just steak on the menu and they have taken care to offer traditional favourites along with more adventurous dishes. La Piazza is enjoyed by all, from couples to large groups. The restaurant fills up quickly, so be sure to book in advance. Prices are approximately £20-£30 per head for a 3 course meal.
